You will meet our local professional English-speaking guide by your cruise ship in Naples (or Sorrento port) to start the Tour. Our guide will wait by your cruise showing a sign with your name written on it. After that, together with your guide you’ll take a ferry, jetfoil or catamaran for Capri: the crossing will last 25 minutes from Sorrento and 45/50 minutes from Naples.
The tourist fortune of Capri begins in the XIX century and it has not stopped since. The island of Capri is less than 3 nautical miles from Punta Campanella cape and it has a maximum altitude of about 589 meters (measured on Mount Solaro). Famous for the beauty of its towering cliffs, for the majesty of Faraglioni rocks and for its caves, the most famous of which is the Blue Grotto. The Blue Grotto is a marine cave gradually sunk due to bradyseism. The phenomenon has led to the closure of the direct sources of illumination inside the cave, so that the light now can filter inside only from an opening below the level of the sea producing surprising chromatic effects.
The heart of Capri is the Piazzetta (Piazza Umberto I) with its typical bars where one can find people from all around the world sitting there to take a coffee and to enjoy the atmosphere of the island, the same atmosphere many people from the world of culture, entertainment, science etc. found irresistible. There were in fact many historical figures who wanted to visit the island of Capri making it a centre of international culture. Many of these distinguished guests remained so impressed by the beauty of Capri to make the island their permanent home. To name just a few: Curzio Malaparte, Pablo Neruda, Graham Greene, Axel Munthe etc. Speaking about Munthe, it is still possible to admire the beautiful Villa San Michele, the house-museum of this Swedish doctor/writer where there are archaeological remains collected by the doctor around the world and a terrace overlooking a breathtaking panoramic sea-view.
Capri Tour for Disabled people includes a ride on the ferry, on taxi and on the train cable car. Although there are steps everywhere on the island, the ferries have wheelchair ramps. As regards the train cable car, there is a lift and an electric ramp for wheelchair users. It also includes a private driving tour by taxi around the island and a visit to the town of Anacapri.
On the island of Capri, no public taxi is equipped with hydraulic system lift for wheelchairs. If our disabled guest can make a few steps, we recommend the taxi. Otherwise, we’ll organize the tour only with the train cable car.
At the end of the Capri Tour, our guide will help you take a ferry (or jetfoil) to go back to your cruise in Naples (or Sorrento) port.
N.B.: Kindly, let us know if our phisically challenged guests can cover a few steps in order to plan the best program for them on the island.
